The condo is heated by a hot water boiler as opposed to a conventional furnace. This offers the advantage of a more even distribution of heat and increased humidity (a real bonus since the air can be quite dry in the Canadian Rockies).

Domestic hot water (i.e. soaker tubs, showers, etc.) is provided by a high capacity gas hot water heater. Steam for the steam shower is provided by an electrical unit located in the utility room, so it doesn't draw upon the domestic hot water supply.
